Honor Roll
Third through seventh grade students’ special efforts in academics and conduct are recognized by their individual classroom teachers and via a schoolwide recognition at the end of the school year.
Christian Witness Award
This award is given each quarter to the student whose behavior most closely parallels the expectations of a Christian role model. The faculty and staff select these students. Input may be received from student peers. Conduct will be taken into consideration when identifying students to receive this award. Within each classroom teachers will recognize student behavior and achievement with weekly and monthly recognition.
Promotion and Retention
A student is advanced to the next higher grade or course if all State of Texas and Texas Catholic Conference Education Department (TCCED) accreditation requirements have been met.
It is recommended that students be retained in the lower grades if a stage of maturity for learning has not been reached. If retention is deemed necessary for students at higher grade levels, parental involvement will be sought in developing an educational plan and the Diocesan retention procedures will be followed.
In all cases the decision for retention is the responsibility of the principal. The principal’s decision is based upon report card grades, standardized test scores, and conferences with the teacher(s) and parent (s)/guardian(s).
Grades K-7: A student who has not made adequate progress in language arts or mathematics will be considered for summer school, tutoring, possible retention, or placement in another school.
