CARPOOL PROCEDURES
Student safety and security are the overriding concerns when drop off and pick up procedures are considered. Convenience and ease for adults is not a consideration. It is extremely important that each parent understands, supports, and adheres to all procedures to ensure the safety of all students. Drivers must maintain a speed of 5MPH or less on campus. Drivers must also be watchful of students at all times while on or in the vicinity of the campus.
Arrival Procedures – Arrival between 7:30-7:55AM
Students are permitted into the building daily at 7:30AM. There are two permitted entry areas for students between 7:30 and 7:55AM. The entry areas and the procedures regarding those areas are:
Drive-through drop off area facing Jupiter Road
The covered drive through area facing Jupiter Road is the appropriate place for dropping students off in the morning. This means that the parent will drive through the area; stop their car for the student[s] to egress; and then leave the area. This is not an area for parents to park and walk their children into the building. This is only an area for students to be dropped off. Supervision of students will begin immediately upon their entering the building. Students will be guided to the appropriate waiting area [Dining Hall or Gym] to wait with their classmates until the teacher arrives to take them to class at 7:55.
Entry to the building via the labyrinth entry area
Parents who wish to park and then walk into the building with their child[ren] are to use this area. Parents are to park in the parking area between the school building and the courtyard that runs between the rectory and the church. They are to walk with their child[ren] into the building and guide their child[ren] to the Dining Hall and/or Gym. There will be no adult supervision provided in this area so it is critical that parents assume responsibility for supervision of their child[ren].
Arrival Procedures – Arrival between after 7:55AM
At 7:55 teachers walk their classes to the classrooms. This means that there is no adult supervision for students after 7:55. After 7:55 parents must park their car and walk their child[ren] into the building. No student may be allowed to enter the building unattended after 7:55. Parents should walk their child[ren] to the double door entry for the instructional wing. If the doors are open and attended, the child may enter there and proceed to their class. If the doors are closed the parent and child must go to the school office for the child to enter the instructional wing.
Dismissal Procedures
There are three critical times regarding student dismissal/pick up and two pick up areas. As this has changed from prior years, please pay close attention to the procedures.
Early Learning Dismissal at 2:30
The Early Learning Program dismisses students for the day at 2:30. The younger siblings of K-7 students who participate in the Early Learning Program will be moved to the Extended Day Program at 2:30 and will be supervised until they are picked up by their parent.
Kindergarten – 4th Grade Dismissal at 3:15
Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be dismissed at 3:15 and may be picked up at the drive through area facing Jupiter Road. Early Learning Program siblings will join their older brother/sister for pick up from that area. Students who are to participate in the EDP will proceed to that area immediately.
Second through 4th grade students will be dismissed at 3:15 and may be picked up at the student pick up area between the church and the rectory. Early Learning Program siblings will join their older brother/sister for pick up from that area. Students who are to participate in the EDP will proceed to that area immediately.
At 3:30 all students who have not yet been picked up will be guided to the EDP program to await their parents. Students in EDP must be signed out. Once placed in the EDP students may only leave with a parent or approved guardian signature on file.
5th Grade – 7th Grade Dismissal at 3:30
Fifth through 7th grade students will be dismissed at 3:30 and may be picked up at the student pick up area between the church and the rectory. Younger siblings [both Early Learning Program students and K-4th students] will join their older brother/sister for pick up from that area. Students who are to participate in the EDP will proceed to that area immediately.
At 3:45 all students who have not yet been picked up will be guided to the EDP program to await their parents. Students in EDP must be signed out. Once placed in the EDP students may only leave with a parent or approved guardian signature on file.
Special note: For families with children dismissed at different times [e.g., a 2nd grade student and a 7th grade student] the younger student will join the older student for the later dismissal time. You do not have to drive through and/or pick up your younger child and then drive through again to pick up your older child.
