4th grade - Religion, Math, Science, and Handwriting

Course Description

This is going to be a very interesting year!  In addition to keeping ourselves safe from germs we will
use our reading and math skills to learn new concepts and solve problems. The fourth grade curriculum includes all subjects and electives (Art, Music, Daily PE, Spanish, and Technology). Here are some of the things that fourth graders will be learning in Religion, Math, Science, and Handwriting. 
 
Religion:

  • Greeting, reading and presenting gifts at school Masses
  • Study Virtues in Practice and Saint of the Month

  • Saints and Saint reports
  • Celebrate the Sacraments of Penance & Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Eucharist
  • Attend weekly mass and Holy days of obligation 
Math: 
  • Math fact practice - beginning of the year
  • Place value
  • Problem solving strategies
  • Addition and subtraction review including money
  • Multiplication and division review including money
  • Decimals
  • Word problems 
  • Measurement
  • Add & subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers
  • Fractions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

Science: 
  • Physical, earth, and life science

Handwriting:
  • Practice cursive handwriting focusing on alignment, slant, size, shape, and spacing
  • Practice writing Scripture verses and coloring a simple illustration.
