Why I Teach: I did not plan to teach. I was a systems analyst/accountant working for an oil company for many years. When I was given the opportunity to teach at St. Monica, I realized how much I loved helping children learn. I got my certification and haven't looked back since! This is my 19th year teaching and I hope to teach for many more. I am blessed by the opportunity to teach your children.

Education and Training:
I earned my BBA and MBA degrees, concentrating in accounting and systems analysis from the University of Texas in Austin. Go Horns! I took my education classes at the University of Dallas and am certified to teach in Texas.

Where I have lived:
I grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas, Long Beach, California, and Houston, Texas. After I married I lived in Tucson, Arizona and now Dallas, Texas.

My Professional Experience:
My first job was with Arthur Anderson Accounting firm as a systems consultant. I left to work for one of my clients, Santa Fe Minerals, Inc. I was a systems consultant implementing oil and gas accounting systems for 15 years. When my company was purchased and relocated to Houston, Texas, I started volunteering full time at St. Monica. I was asked to teach religion, math, and science. I taught 5th grade for 5 years and moved to the middle school for 8 years to teach 6th and 7th grade math. I taught 5th grade at St. Joseph for 5 years and now I am teaching 4th grade for the third year.

My Family:
My husband Phil and I have two boys, Preston and Kevin.

Something you might not know about me: I love, love, love animals especially cats! I have a rescue orange tabby cat named Champ.
We have a classroom pet tortoise named Toby!

My prayer for my students: I pray that my students use their gifts for the glory of God.
